According to media reports in Mexico, former WWE champion, Alberto Del Rio has been fatally injured after an unknown assailant stabbed him.

The incident happened outside a local restaurant in San Antonio where Mr. Del Rio had gone to eat. The fracas according to Del Rio was the reason for missing his Sunday night’s AAA Heroes Inmortales X event in Mexico City.

To confirm the incidence, post on his social media handle, read: “Mr. Rodriguez (“Alberto El Patron”) shortly after eating a meal before his flight was assaulted by a criminal with a knife outside the restaurant. Mr. Rodriguez suffered multiple lacerations on his arm and other parts of his body defending against the criminal as witnesses called the police.”

Shortly after the melee, Mr. Rodriguez was taken to the hospital for prompt medical attention after which he reported to the police department to give his statement concerning the attack. Due to the attack, Mr. Rodriguez was unable to make his flight for his wrestling match at the AAA Heroes Inmortales X event and has now reached out to the management of AAA worldwide giving reasons for his absence from his much-anticipated wrestling bout.

Despite the multiple injuries sustained from the stabbing, the former WWE champion has stated that he will not miss any of his matches for the remainder of the year and is fit to compete in England this weekend. It is interesting to see how committed del Rio is to his career; even a knife stab cannot seem to deter the superstar from pursuing what he knows best.

Del Rio remains an undisputed champion who has graced the finest of stages in the wrestling world. Since his departure from WWE, Alberto has gone on to compete in his home country. Hopefully, we would see a more rejuvenated Del Rio when he is full recovered.
