Alberto del Rio – Mexican Fighter

Alberto del Rio is a professional wrestler from Mexico most notable for his stint with the World Wrestling Entertainment or the WWE. Having also tried his hand at Mixed Martial Arts, del Rio is currently signed to the AAA promotion of professional wrestling as well as the Ring of Honour promotion and Lucha Underground. He also competes as an independent wrestler across various promotions, both in the United States of America and in Japan and Puerto Rico.

Del Rio is a seven time champion in professional wrestling, having held both the top two titles in the WWE, the World Heavyweight Championship and the WWE Championship twice each apart from being a former CMLL World Heavyweight Championship holder. He currently holds the AAA World Heavyweight Championship belt as well as the WWL World Heavyweight Championship title.

2011 was a breakthrough year for Alberto del Rio in the WWE. During that year, he first won the 30 man Battle Royal at Royal Rumble and also the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, winning the contract for a championship match of his choice, therefore, becoming the first wrestler in the history of the promotion to win both events in the same calendar year.

Before he joined the WWE, del Rio was one of the most prominent faces in the CMLL and independent Luchador circuit in Mexico and in Japan. He was fired from the WWE last year after which he joined the AAA promotion under the ring name El Patron Alberto, which translates to The Boss Alberto and he won the AAA World Heavyweight Championship title months after joining the promotion.

That same year, it was announced that Ring of Honour had signed Alberto del Rio and he would be competing professionally for them whenever his schedule with the AAA and WWL permits.
